Trace reads the geometry in your STEP file, separates the outer contour from the cutouts and the bevels, and gives you the length to cut. Part by part.

A drawing gives dimensions.

So you measure contour by contour. You miss a hole, you round off a radius, you add a margin to be safe. The price rests on an estimate nobody could reproduce exactly — not even the person who made it.

Measuring by hand is cheap one part at a time. It is the total that costs, and it appears on no line of your accounts.

Flat plate, round tube, rectangular tube or complex profile: the part is identified before it is measured.

Every face is sorted, every edge tied to what it actually is — a cut, a bevel, an edge of stock.
